We Seek Your Approval to Switch
Would you recommend that an Apple user switch to an alternate
platform? Would the criteria for that recommendation revolve
around the cumulative effect of damage from this and all other
Mac vulnerabilities?

Or is this just castigation of zealots?

The other day Microsoft made threats regarding the
indemnification of Linux users from patent suits. This makes
Apple's IP the only desktop IP available that is either not a
Windows license or under threat of Microsoft legal action. If you
conceed that software IS the computer, you conceed that the
choice of "computers" has arguably narrowed to 2. The other
viable choice runs at 5% market share on a good day. A vocal
minority has to shout above the din of a 95% market share to
gain the remotest amount of credibility for a competitive,
technically accomplished, and stable OS.

This is the battle you choose. You'll act as a tireless agent
against the hyperbole of a small portion of the users of a
platform with a tiny market share. If you win, you further
discourage what little competition is left in favor of a
monoculture. On that shining day, you can choose any hardware
you like, as long as it runs Windows. Good job o' champion of
platform neutrality.

Sometimes affirmative action is called for. Sometimes imbalance
has to be addressed. Sometimes getting off the fence is in order.
So far you argued on behalf of nothing to no discernable end.
The small band of reactionary cranks that are the object of your
ire are growing daily.

To put a fine point on it, you have been wasting your time.
