Perhaps that which makes OSS more secure also backfires
So you can have a closed system where only the blackhats and l33t geeks know how to break in or a closed system where everyone is informed about vulnerabilities.

In the closed systems case, just because a patch is not released or a bug not discovered does not mean you are safe, the blackhats have loads of sploits MS knows nothing about!

In the open system case a million eyes not only find problems faster but fix em faster as well. Of course, this shifts the burden to the admin to keep things updated because the sploits are published and available to all to study and learn from.

In the case of old fashion locks - keyed entry locks - every locksmith knows how to pick em and most have master keys to make it even easier, does that make yuo less safe?
