- NZ, Lord of pompous verbosity
-
I just spent an amusing ten minutes flipping through 20 pages of your posts, the Google results for 'enetring' NonZealot. And its true. You really are an opiniated zealot who's principal refuge, when challenged, is to resort to sarcasm, childish insult and inane "HAHAHAHAHA!s". There are some nice slap down from a range of other posters in there too, seems the Lord of Pompus Verbosity has got himself quite a history.
But back to the matter in hand. Your claim to have hardened your PC against past, present and future exploits at least to the extent that common sense security practices can secure any OS against future exploits", is a full admission that in fact you are as vulnerable as everyone else is to Windows drop-offs. Just like everyone else you have to patch your box just as soon as the retrospective fixes are released. Just like everyone else your "hardened" box is currently vulnerable to an unknown number of potential exploits for which Microsoft haven't yet released fixes. Just like everyone else, your box could, at this very moment, be infected with malware for which fixes may never be released. Your "hardening" is the equivalent of "duck and cover" and no amount of sarcastic bombast canalter those facts. Its too late to backpedal now and start re-interpreting your earlier words. This article - the one under discussion, started with the words "Microsoft on Tuesday provided fixes for eight flaws related to Windows, including three that could be used to compromise a system without any user interaction".
Your first response was -
"Sigh, no excitement for me this month
My 2 minutes of XP post-install "hardening" has protected me from all of these".
So what you appear be saying is that while everyone else has to apply the Microsoft patches, your 2 minutes of hardening already protected you. Utter, utter, b*ll*x. There's nothing wrong with my reading comprehension - I think though that your reality comprehension is obviously suspect. - Posted by: whisperycat Posted on: 11/15/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
