Trials of an innovative new IE "Unpatched Windows Exploit Bar" - which alerts users to malware accessing known, but unpatched Windows flaws - had to be stopped after several volunteers suffered from epileptic fits caused by the frequency of the flashing.

"We wanted to know how many Windows exploits were getting onto users PCs when the users themselves thought the PC was were safe", said a trial's spokes-person. "The rate of the flashing made some of the volunteers quite ill. Lucky for them we can't detect the malware accessing UNKNOWN, unpatched WIndows flaw - they probably would have passed out", he added. "Still, that's innovation!".
