Don't know... sounds like a way to make for money...
...for the certificate issuers.
I could be wrong, but I just get the feeling that the issuers, just got a new product.

"This new type of security certificate will be sold by the same companies"

I can see them now, 'Well, if you want you sight to be Green in IE 7, you'll have to BUY one of our "extended validation certificate".'
They use the word 'obtain', but I hear 'BUY'.
I'm also pretty sure, that there will be a setting in IE7, now or later, to allow only "green-ed" sites to be displayed.
Sure phishing is bad, but it sounds like "throwing the baby out with the bath water", unless you pay something.

Hey, maybe it's just me.
