I thought Linux users were intelligent?

Although this particular worm doesn't appear to need ActiveX help on its initial install

So you admit ActiveX isn't needed for this worm to install itself. There goes your argument that ActiveX is what makes machines vulnerable. In this case it appears the worm's author used ActiveX to do his dirty work, but considering ActiveX was only called after the malware was installed he could just as easily used any other language, including shell scripts.
