Idiots and their open relay mail servers...
are probably the biggest delivery agent for spammers. Mail servers that offer services to spammers can be dealt with by simply filtering the E-mail by domain - at either the client or server. But the huge number of mail servers set up by companies (for their local domain) knowing little or nothing about serving mail, is a endless source of transports for spammers.

How do you convince these companies to hire a qualified tech to set up the server or to have someone host their mail server. Most know so little about serving mail and IT in general, they aren't even aware that their server is being exploited.

No software or hardware solutions are going to fix out IT mess today.... Unless the IT user becomes educated about the IT world he is living in. This is the only place to start. We have plenty of solutions for spam and other issues, especially security, But our software has to be safe and uninviting to hackers and most of all, the IT user has to obtain the knowledge needed to operate in this environment.
