Unfortunately, rogue XPI's are appearing now
Just check out the Mozilla/Firefox support forums for more details. There is a debate right now about having 'install XPI' on by default or not. Of course, there are only a few instances of Mozilla/Firefox specific scumware while there are 1000's of IE specific ones.

As for non-viewable sites, I've ran into some. Most of these used the <ocument.all in a javascript instead of <ocument.getElementById. More sites didn't render quite right due to non W3C standard HTML on the pages but were still usable in Firefox.
