I'm not suggesting that Java is "OH MY GOD SO DANGEROUS YIKES SAVE ME!!!" but your comment is simply wrong.
Also Java does NOT let the programmer do things like delete files or format your hard drives

Java and ActiveX aren't supposed to let remote sites delete local files but that is not what you wrote.
