Others use it...
because they do. They use the tools required for the job. Sometimes Visual Studio is one of those tools. There are other development environments that do this or that better, but I can't think of any that do more. There are a lot of things I think Microsoft does badly. Making development tools isn't one of them. I've still made more money using vi, byt visual studio has been closing the gap.
