That's not the point
The main problem with this, as the article points out is, of course, the human factor. As in "will the employee write the password in a convenient place for the potential theives to find it?"

The main objective is to keep data secure from the employee, not for the employee. The whole idea is to make it possible for you to buy a copy of Waterworld and store it on your drive but have no way to play it except on that system.
