I love it when people who have no clue what they're talking about barf up a jewel like yours above. Do you even think before you type?

You're saying that, without piracy, Microsoft would only have 40% market share. This means that, according to you, 54% of Microsoft's current market share is due to piracy. Now, I know this will be excruciatingly painful for you, but let's think here for a moment:

1.) If you know something about Microsoft's market share, they know twice as much about it as you do.

2.) So, if the above assertion were true, why would they be trying to stamp out piracy if it were such a necessity for market share?

BECAUSE IT'S NOT. They are after piracy that is hurting their sales, but it isn't hurting their sales that much. Geeks are in the minority, so the number of illegitimate Windows XP copies floating around is vastly smaller than the number of legitimate Windows XP copies pre-installed on just about every PC sold. Given that both Dell and HP dominate the PC retail industry for both businesses and consumers, you're outlandish claim that illegitimate Windows accounts for 54% of Windows XP's market share is outright false.
