Forget Verisign. I use CACert.org. The verification process is still a pain, though.

As for ease of use, the problem is sort of the chicken before the egg. 2-Key Encryption is useless when you are the only one with a key pair.

Once you have the certificate, it is surprisingly easy to apply it to Outlook. Its not an ease of use problem. Users by and large are just not geek enough yet to know what is good for themselves.

The biggest issue is keeping your keys secure. I for one favor hardware over software keystores. It is way too easy to leave keys behind inadvertantly. I'd much rather just carry it around on my keychain and plug it in to a USB.

Anyone use hard drive encryption? I am curious. What is the best/easiest to use package out there?
