And how does this prove Microsoft's "commitment" toward security?
If I were them, I'd be asking for help from the experts who devote entire careers to this sort of thing. And not doing the exact opposite.

Especially when Microsoft has allowed so many problems in the first place; preferring to whip up new GUIs for each new release over anything else.
