Technology VS Process
A good point that Scoid has raised.

Why do we keep fighting hackers with technology ? Why is it that hackers have realised that software are tools and that their methods are more powerfull.

Just look at this story, the method is simple:

1- Identify a vulnerability that is common.
2- Scan the net for vulnerable system
3- Inject codes to the system to turn it into zombie
4- Send command to the zombie to execute more attacks.

Now, they realised that we have technology to identify the tools they use (IRC). Well guess what, they keep the same method and change the tools (http).

My point is, if everyone would introduce proper process and stop looking at the technology as a solution, less and less systems would be vulnerable.

This starts with the manufacturer in their SDLC, continues with enterprise on the corporate networks and ends with the users at home...

So stop looking for quick fixes, implement rigourous process that will continously reduce your vulnerability.
