Well said... but....
I think you summed things up well there, but as others are pointing out, that if the kernal is open to some, its open to everyone. Including people you've never met from countries youve never heard of, with software you really dont want, and no way of really knowing its going on there.

AV vendors want to give the customer choice over AV products, but we should get the choice of whether or not to open up the kernal to 3rd parties... perhaps a radio button with some informative text next to it, of a tick box in the control panel.
