I think Microsoft is being over-optimistic in thinking that their "locking down" the kernel is actually going to prevent someone out there finding out how to do it anyway. In that case, it might just be a good idea to have a structured set of methods that security companies can use to validate what's happening on a system (particularly in the kernel).

Just some thoughts, nothing I'm prepared to insist that I'm right on.
