Pfft, *I* write down the occasional password
I just keep it in a safe place nobody can access.

This merely highlights a problem: You want people to have complex passwords that are difficult to memorize, yet want them to memorize them!

1 in 3 people can't remember their password. Even simpler passwords aren't always remembered. I work with such people all the time. There HAS to be a system for lost password retrieval, or they will write it down.

We're human, we forget things. It happens. There's no way around it. Even I forget things. You HAVE to provide some say/secure way of password retrieval where the user doesn't need to pull stuff from memory.

Those password retrieval questions and answers also don't work. Whoops, did I spell my home city right? Did I capitalize or not? None of those questions I'd remember the answer to. Everybody knows that info, can't use that. And it goes on - honestly, they have just as many difficulties with the "question and answer" password retrieval system as they do their password.

It's just a fact of life. Live with it, work around it, use fingerprint readers if you're really paranoid. Don't whine about it. Passwords are simply difficult to remember.
