- Actually there is a very easy way out...
-
You guys seem to think of security as a one dimensional plane. If you have a company that has...lets just say 1000 employee workstations. All are running Windows XP. Now lets assume this is a company that runs Linux servers. Okay, what makes more sense here. Attempting to hack the single server with a single point of entry or attempt to hack the 1000 workstations giving you multiple routes to the same source at different levels of entry?
I just think it is comical that people actually believe that if Linux were the dominant OS on the planet that things would be "vastly more secure" LOL...please...
The other thing you security "experts" seem to fail to understand is that the bulk of the attacks on companies doesn't come in the form of hacking past a firewall and then hacking into a server. It comes in the form of playing on the end user in the company. Stealing passwords, installing trojans, paying an employee for their password, or any other number of things to get access to the system and THEN use a program (if needed) to work from within.
Ah well...I'm not an expert...you guys know whats best (obviously) so that's why there is no cybercrime out there...everyone's data is secure and safe on some Linux server somewhere. Yeah...now I can sleep better. - Posted by: Stellardyne Posted on: 10/16/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
