Security: Linux vs. Microsoft
In response to wshiperycat's rant on how Linux is so vastly more secure than Microsoft, one wonders what his real "angle" is here. First things first, there is NO such thing as pure security in the IT world. Humans will make mistakes;therefore,
an available window of access to data is found in cyberspace. NO software is bullet-proof. The variables in programming are so vast that it's virtually impossible to cover everything. If you were to write a programm for the process of waking up in the morning, getting dressed, shower, breakfast or coffee, and driving your car to work would you be able to think "precisely" of every process without leaving out some slight detail? I think not. The problem: software companies are just like every other american company, that in rushing to beat the competetion with a new product to market, they don't do a "complete" testing before production. What they have always done is to rush the product to market and then, ask the user what problems they are having so they can fix them. So, there is NO one software/pc product out there so vastly better then anyone else... Linux or Microsoft. And, "pure" security...it doesn't exist.
