I'm not sure what your point is or was. However, if people could have done widespread hacking of *nix boxes then they would have. Why? Because *nix type boxes are typically the server of choice, whether it be for web, dns, dhcp, mail, etc. Do you not think that they would be more fun to "own" than a random number of windows computers?
