yep, you don't get it...
a) "Impact: Execution of arbitrary code via local system, Root access via local system" (from , "Microsoft Office Korean Input Method Editor Lets Local Users Gain Elevated Privileges"). Ok it's not a major mainstream feature but it proves the concept, and it took me less than 30 secs to find the reference.

b) I work in a large enterprise, in info security. Your assumptions about desktop lockdown are laughably incorrect.

c) regardless of the enterprise exposure, the 'bot army that could be assembled from unpatched home users would be big enough to dos most gigabit pipes. The folks who can't figure out why their computer is so much slower now aren't the ones to worry, they'll never be held accountable, but the real owners of the identities stolen using those 'bots will be the ones who should worry. Burying your head in the sand doesn't make the threat less serious.
