Symantec Product Activation/WPA
Bad idea. People buy software, not rent it. Product Activation stinks of being a stepping stone to rental.

WPA was and still is one of the worst decisions M$ has ever made. I understand their reasoning.... I believe that they wanted to deter piracy.. especially the extensive piracy abroad. But that is a two edged sword. By killing piracy of WXP in say China?? they have only encouraged that countries programmers to develop for open source. To improve and tweak open source. To make it more viable as a replacement for windows. DUMB DECISION BILL!

True, by indirectly funding efforts to kill open source (i.e., SCO) they may eliminate the market (at least here in the US).... But that's a big MAY.

One last note. Symantec.. Kill activation! Quicken... Thank you for recognizing the mistake.
