This is just going to get worse before it gets better
Recently small graphics company CuriousLabs issued a new version of their 3D application Poser, which included product activation. Following a grass roots revolt and a lot of customer problems/complaints, they capitulated and issued a service pack that removed all the product activation code. Magically, a lot more users suddenly found the application worked on their machines...

Adobe have just brought out new versions of most of their main applications, and there were some nice features in Photoshop CS, that had me thinking of upgrading. But, a quick visit to their support forum to see if there might be any issues with my hardware, showed a fair number of questions about the new activation code and problems it was causing some people.

So I'm holding off on upgrading to see how it goes.

That said, I have XP, Office XP and VS.NET on machines both at home and at work that activated without a hitch, so it is possible, but looks a bit too much like a lottery at the moment. Especially where unusual hardware configurations are concerned.
