XP Activation does NOT work flawlessly.
On the Video forum where I hang out it is quite evident that XP activation does NOT work well.

The typical video professional swaps hard drives, 3, 4, even more times a day. Many times XP ignores this, but from time to time it decides that it is NOT running on the right computer any more. So, you have to call mickysoft. Sometimes twice a day. Sometimes not for a few days. Then back to calling, sometimes twice a day, sitting on hold waiting for the monkeys to give us the key.

Needless to say many of the members of the forum have gone back to Widders 2000 and just dumped their investment in XP. The cost of going back and losing their money they spend on XP, plus the time needed to convert back is generally thought to be well worth it.
