"A Few "Sounds Suspect
Considering that it costs major bucks just to talk to Symantec tech support, we can presume that more than a few users are involved..

"A few" will have managed to communicate their issue; many others we can fairly guess have dead software and will never recommend Symantec to friends or buy Symantec again.

I am glad I went with Paragon Hard Disc Manager 5.5 instead of Norton Ghost in an activated form even if Ghost ain't currently at fault.

I do use another activated utility for PDF printing from another software maker. It uses the Macrovision activation and it's been problematic.

Stay away from activated software folks. It's not always bad news but when it fails getting a fix is all but impossible. The tendency is for the vendor to quietly do nothing or just presume end user guilt.

When a problem develops there is scant incetive to correct it, since in a typical instance the PC setup is such that the only way to fix it for the customer is to disable the activation--and few if any lock-happy vendors will even consider that in my experience.

But an activated product and be prepared to lose your investment if there happens to be anything about your system that triggers reactivation frequently. You won't be important enough for the vendor to risk unlicensed copies by switching off the defective locks.
