Telco provides "last resort" service cable doesn't
As a P8 user over cable broadband I am looking forward to cutting the line with the telephone company.

Only thing is the telco by law needs to keep service up. Cable and cell phone are best effort, in case of a problems, oh well. In the blackout last summer cell phone and cable phone based service was out of operations and no repercussions. If the telco network went down people would get fired and maybe even go to jail. Two separate levels of service ...
