- Telco doesn't adveretise how far along VoIP really is
-
So many doctors and patient isn't even sick ...
The legacy telco network has been made obsolete by the fact that the amount of data traffic today exceeds the amount of voice traffic. Before this turning point it made sense to converge data traffic onto voice switches, now it makes sense to converge voice traffic onto data switches.
The FCC and telco's have been playing chicken over when the telco's would throw out the old and install the new (a pure data network as transport layer for all services). The FCC thinks it finally gave the telco what it wanted (they don't have to share pure fiber based services with competition) so they now have an incentive to swap out the copper network for glass. The Telco's want taxation applied to the startups to keep em in line so the FCC gets this guy to say "state's hands off" which is really saying "fed tax on". Will be interesting to have the dems point out this new republican tax "strategy". - Posted by: oldskool Posted on: 04/03/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
