Not perfect . . .
VoIP is not perfect; I agree. The industry is in it's infancy and needs the freedom of regulation to develop the technology. Internet commerce would have never developed without deregulation.

I have the Packet8 service and am satisfied with the service as a second line. Yes, it is only as reliable as may cable broadband connection (Charter Pipeline w/2mb DL) and the power company but no technology is "perfect". The ONLY reason I have not gotten rid of SBC is that my home alarm system (ADT)is not supported by VoIP yet.

Yet another advantage is that I can take my DTA with me anywhere (vacation/business)I have Internet access and have my telephone connection without roaming charges or minute usage as with a cell phone.
