VOIP service isn't up to snuff with traditional phone service. It's a good alternative for low-cost phone access, but it's only as reliable as the internet -- which is NOT as reliable as actual phone lines. This is in rebuttal to your stance that VOIP has a CLEAR advantage. Clearly, it is not the same caliber of product. However, it does WORK rather well...just not perfectly.

In response to your idea that they should simply get rid of all the charges for regular phone line providers -- THAT is NOT what will make regular phone line providers like SBC "competitive" with VOIP providers like Vonage. SBC's big problem is itself. Little Vonage provides a healthy, low-cost alternative and THAT is what will make SBC competitive again in the marketplace.
