Sounds like ZERT wanted to do a half assed job and get a lot of media attention by saying "ZOMG US >>> MS" or something :P

From what i know of how MS works, I'm pretty sure that they are taking this long because they are doing the patch properly and testing it against all the exploits.

Anyone who codes will leave potential buffer overflows in their code now and then, which could be exploited. Linux coders i'm sure are no exception. MS just get a lot more media attention on their mistakes than others:P
