not always the case
Last week's wireless patches for the Wi-Fi vulnerability was already well-known due to the BlackHat demo. Was there ever really a problem out in the wild? Perhaps not. But at least two guys knew how to crack any Wi-Fi setup, including Airport.

It didn't help that Apple themselves initially sounded quite dismissive of the vulnerability, only to backtrack last week and show that indeed their equipment was as susceptable to attack as any other Wi-Fi setup...just like that demo vid had shown. If nothing else, the misguided backlash by the Mac community after that demo only went to piss off two security researchers (and anyone else in their position) who may not be so forgiving to Apple and its user base with the next vulnerability they find in terms of releasing information to the public first because of the shoddy way the Apple community ransacked these two's reputations.

If OS X starts to get the attention of the same kind of anti-malware, OS security and 'bug-fixer' organizations and companies that typically try to break Windoze (and then be the first to take credit for it as if that was the way to justify their existence)...then more of these patches will indeed fix things that will already have been reported by outlets like zdnet.
