Your promotion of dropping legacy
compatibility leads me to believe that you think any NEW MS products (without legacy support) are going to be written better than any of the previous OS's. That is an assumption that I find hard to believe. They are too entrenched in having a SINGLE USER operating system. And that is all they will ever produce for the desktop.

They have a good product and it has its place in the market. But to think that they will ever go with a product that issues a new shell with its own environment for each application is - well - probably never going to happen. To get that type of an environment you are going to have to move to a nix.
