With all the effort invested in bringing Vista out on time, how much
On Thursday, Microsoft warned people about a vulnerability in the Windows Shell, the part of the operating system that presents the user interface. The flaw affects Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 and could be exploited via the Internet Explorer Web browser through a component called WebViewFolderIcon, the company said in an advisory.

effort can MS put into correcting their older systems? It appears that MS is focusing all their resources to get Vista, IE7, the next MSO, etc. out the door as soon as possible. How could they spent any serious time correcting effectively the numerous defects on their previous systems?

I feel that the stream of defects that surface is endless exactly because there no more man-hours available to invest in fixing them. The fact that a corrective patch needs to be redone several times to get it right is anothe sign that more man-hours are needed to make the corrections effective and .... correct.

Vista should appear as the "exit strategy" from this "War against all past defects" ? Hopefully, Vista will be designed and put together with better quality.

We will see since the promise of "this one solves all past problems" has been heard before every single "next" OS from Microsoft.

Good luck guys.
