The fundemental question is, may a monopoly
still improve it's product offerings. Or to put it another way, by virtue of holding a near monopoly position is Microsoft no longer allowed to design competitive products at all?

From what I can see of this situation not only does the EU want to cry about imagined past issues (how XP sans Media Player selling?) they literaly want to tell programers how to write code and build products. How those products must work. Who is allowed to build the products and who is not. And in what form those bits must appear.

Or if you think about it, what they really want is to keep Microsoft from building a more secure OS at the expense of all users everywhere.

No, this has gone far to far and the EC must be brought back into line even if that requires US governmental action in the way of trade restrictions or other financial pressure.

The EC can NOT be allowed to dictate how coders build code and it doesn't matter who they work for...
