Dell's next
Anybody remember Dell Computer? The company with reliable products, competitive pricing, and excellent customer service from the 90's? Well, forget it.

All that's left of Dell now is the name. Their PCs are no longer reliable, their prices are no longer different from any other brand's cost, and their customer support is only a sham.

Try calling into Dell's "Customer Care" (that name cracks me up) and prepare for voice mail hell, one rapid-fire prompt after another, all inevitably leading to the same "automated" area, where, after waiting a long period of time, you'll be connected to some useless and clueless individual at a call center emanating from what seems like Fallujah, whose intent is not to assist you, but to torture you.

IOW, Dell gives the pretense of customer service, but in reality, all they are doing is dumping you into a pit of frustration where all attempts to resolve an issue are pointless and come up empty. You'll be promised callbacks which never come, you'll get promises not to be honored, and you'll find yourself no further along than you were before making the calls. Oh, BTW, prepare to be "transferred" which is a Dell euphemism for "disconnected". Get back on the voice mail express, and wait to speak your non-English speaking friends on the other side of hell.

Oh, yeah, the American consumer is going to stand for this indefinitely -- NOT.

Wave goodbye to the company which used to be, say hello to the new boss who cares not one whit for your intelligence nor your time. Say hello the the new Dell.

For an example of what Dell customers are going through at this very moment, log into the Dell Customer Care Community Form at:

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=cc_credit_return&page_of_message_id=31468

Read it and weep. These are paying customers getting the heave-ho treatment, folks. You can't make this stuff up.
