Gateway is Failing...
Have you looked at the systems on their website lately (home systems)? You can not configure anything with the system besides external things like speakers and keyboards. What happened to built to order computers? You can not change the speed/hard drive size/memory unless you upgrade to the next model. Gateway might as well sell its computers along side e-machines and all the other non-configurable computers.

Also, i think Gateway would have kept the stores if they did not buy E-machines. I am sure Best Buy, Circuit City, etc..threatened them to stop selling the E-Machines brand if Gateway didn't close the stores as they would be competition to them.

My first computer in 1998 was a gateway and I was very pleased with it. Bought another in 2000, not as happy but still ok, tech support was horrible. I now build my own and can make it the way I want, not a set-up that gateway wants.
