Only one thing needed - accountability
The answer to the security woes, which really have nothing to do with our security solutions we have for IT, but rather flaws in the code and design of software, is too simple! Make software companies accountable for damages customers sustain when using said software. This is a practice we adhere to in every other industry. Make software companies pay for damages and I guarantee that this nonsense would stop. I can't believe that IT consumers and especially the IT press are so "duh". Any other proposed solution will just add unneeded costs and less efficiency than already exists. If the IT community is so stupid and blind that they can't see what's happening, they deserve they junk they get. This isn't even about technology. This is about human behavior and responsibility. There is simply nothing else that can even put a dent in the problems so evidenced by todays headlines. There is no other answer. PERIOD!
