You Guessed Correct
But before you decide that my tone is biased because I don't have any certifications let me add that I don't need nor want any. I have a job and have had a job in this buisness for 20+ years. I've been a programmer, a tech, a system admin, and a dept head. Currently I'm back to what I do best.. and thats programming. I did recently go back to school and finish my degree in Computer Science so I'm not sitting on the laurels of a 20 year old degree either. (BTW I'm 43 if your trying to put the numbers together)

My point was that since the only qualification to get a certification is a checking account what do they really produce? I know you have seen the advertisements for boot camps that promise a cert in two weeks or your money back. Playing with a PC at home, going to a boot camp, getting a cert does not make a qualified tech/programmer/admin etc. This brings me back to how the industry has put blind faith in the certification process and some.. not all... will hire based soley on the posession of this <ocument.

Also keep in mind. This is simply my opinion.
