Bring on the Paper Tigers
Once again, and I can feel the cold icy breath of the "industry" behind this, lets create a certification process to solve our problems. Certification is crap. Its a very expensive piece of toilet paper in a pinch. M$, Novell, Redhat, Cisco certs aren't worth the paper they are printed on but somehow, the "industry" has embraced them as a sign of expertise. A young man graduates from High School and makes a decision. Do I go to college for four years and get a degree or do I take my tuition and get as many certs as I can and go to work. He makes the second choice. A couple of weeks and a boot camp or two later.. POOF another "expert" is born. Of course what he failed to realize is that his certs, unlike the degree has an expiration date on it and has no practical experiance to call upon.

I'm not saying that everyone that has a cert isn't really qualified so save a match and flame someone else. But the idea of requiring certification is ignorant and just another money maker for those who offer the certs. Funny that a M$ rep sits on this panel discussing security. Who else, whose company offers cert, is sitting on this panel?

Don't buy into it..Just say NO !!
