?Jeff Jones, Microsoft's senior director for "trustworthy computing," said the company was heeding user requests when XP was designed: "What customers were demanding was network compatibility, application compatibility."?

We take for granted that security is the main thing and value, but if consumer?s, generally, wants maximum ?network compatibility, application compatibility?, shall we not respect that? Are their values not true for them? Yes, all those malware are very expensive to handle, but simplicity is a value too. Linux and Mac users, on the average, might be different in this regard. Their operating systems correspond to those values.
