Microsoft provided a "fix"
Not in the form of a downloadable patch, but in the form of a simple command you can type to disable the vulnerable component. All corporations can use MS's workarounds while they are waiting for the official patch.

However, the workarounds aren't very useful to the Average User, but then again, a third-party patch isn't useful either. (How would Average User find out about the third-party patch? If he knows enough that there's a third-party patch available, he would probably know that there are MS-provided workarounds as well.)
