..Remove their crappy Registry and ActiveX...

While ActiveX is used by the virus writers, it's also at the heart of all windows apps, MS and ISV.
Removing it isn't an option.
But you knew that.

Out of interest, how do apps on BSD leverage objects from other apps or the OS?
