No system is going to be 100% secure.
Though it is known Microsoft likes to welcome hackers with open arms, which in turn makes them more vulnerable...

Still. Anyone can be cajoled to be lured given the right impetus. And with Firefox gaining popularity, it's only a matter of time before problems leech into our systems as well.

So do the usual - don't respond or even open mesages from strangers, don't browse strange websites, the instant you see bizarre happenings on your computer just reformat (so keep your data backed up), if you chat with people online and you give them an e-mail address, tell them covertly to be descriptive in your subject line, don't store passwords in the browser's "password wallet" or whatever it's called, et cetera. Take no risks.

Or buy virtualization software and make multiple virtual machines; one for each web site. Tedious, and expensive given the VM product and any other relevant licenses, but it works.

It's all a big chore. But it works.

Now if only online dating wasn't twice the boredom drinking booze in a bar is...
