ok, how about ...
The article I just read stated that they are all about equal [in security capabilites] ... however, that is depending on what you 'turn on' for the 'common user' (who has to use these systems).

Also, Linux's average of 'at risk days before a patch is distributed' are about 57 while MS is the LOWEST at 25 (days where a SEVERE vulnerability is known). MS fixed 100% of known vulnerabilites while Linux flavors fixed between 97 and 99% at the longer delay. These were consider SERIOUS, SYSTEM-COMPRIMISING security holes.

So, which articles are correct? They both bear some facts. Certainly MS followers would 'quote' any article that bear their fruit as would any Linux fanatic with their "bible source".

The real key is MOST successful attacks are on holes that are, at a minimum, MONTHS to YEARS old, regardless of the system! If we didn't have unpatched systems or people who had nothing better to do than exploit any vulnerabilities, we would have no problems!

Basically, again, IF someone just keeps the patches up and AV up though, BOTH are fine. PERIOD.

YOU need to read up on the comparisons between them. UNIX is on our systems here. However, LIKE MOST CORPS ... it is BEHIND MS and not on desktops. Another reason why UNIX/LINUX is 'so safe'.

You may wish to finagle studies that would back up your beliefs ... heck, who wouldn't? ... However, IF, IN FACT, Linux was on 90% of the desktops ... it WOULD BE the focus of the malicious coders and script kiddies. They WOULD find the ways to spread their 'word'.

To believe otherwise, you are underestimating how intelligent and persistent these folks are.
