Ubuntu Linux patches anything new in any program installed daily
Now that's nice and you very seldom need to reboot.

Which means that the last thing I do each day since leave my box running is to let in do the update.

The next morning I just close the window.

Linux programs are upgraded so quickly that you can have up 30 or 40 new versions of programs each day depending on how much you install.

Unlike Windows you can install away free programs in Linux and not have to worry about spyware and virus'.

You have a repository of all free preported and pretested programs of which at least 30% are equal or better than commercial programs.

In Ubuntu you are actually more at risk when you have to install a commercial program. But when I say at risk I mean that the program might possibly not work since it was not pretested. Not that it will bring your OS down like Windows does.

So a lot of the "rules" in a Windows system like running a antivirus and spyware program, not installing software you don't need and staying away from certain types of web sites don't apply.

This also applies to BSD and Mac systems as well.
