Different distros have different/sometimes same
strengths and weaknesses. Do to the licensing and 'free' nature of most distros you may experience a hard time getting commercial multimedia to work out-of-the-box, and can spend way too much time googling and forum hopping to get a tv tuner, a digicam, particular printer or even video card/monitor to work. For the experience of trying these things out, some of us find that Windows does do enough things right to not want to spend more time getting Fedora, SuSe, Ubuntu or such to work like we want (or contact a dev and plead for this hardware support or some type of easy config file instead of writing ourselves or copy and paste). And the 'nearly works', like the tv tuner cards where the equipment is recognized by the output isn't there is just frustrating.

Linux does work, just not in the same way.

If nothing else, it's secure e-mail and web browsing, . . for now. Both sides will continue to get better, . . . it's the users who seem to be going from bad to worse. Just look at this forum wink
