Abso-freakin-lutely!!!
I'm a father and can EASILY see myself making a little greasy spot out of anyone proven to have done something to one of my daughters.

BUT....and this is a big one...I **MUST KNOW** they are guilty.

With this kind of evidence being allowed ANYTHING can be placed on your computer. Maybe Steiger had some P2P software on his computer and he never knew about the child porn, I don't know. But just as the police should not be allowed to break in and search your home without a warrant, so they should not be allowed to ask your trusted neighbor who has a key to your door to let you in, or put a gun to their head and force their way in, or to search for your key hidden under the door mat or in the corner where the siding turns up and leaves a gap.

Besides, essentially what the prosecution said UU1069 did was to break into Steigers house (computer) rummage around for stuff, allegedly find child porn pictures, photcopied them and marched down to the police station and say "Look what I found while breaking into this guy's house. If you want to see more, go there and look in these places and you'll find alot more."

What we really don't know, and frankly what the police do not really know is what really happened when UU1069 broke into Steiger's computer it might have gone something more like...UU1069 broke into Steiger's house (computer) rummaged around and didn't find anything very useful. Maybe he found some porn but nothing that could really get Steiger in trouble, but knowing that this guy does really for truly do kiddie porn UU1069 is always prepared (like a good Turkish Boy Scout) he just happened to have some nasty-nasty child porn on him. He puts it in some convenient hiding places and then marches down to the police station and does his song and dance and walks out.

Now if that is what really happened, what's to stop it from happening to you if you say something the Gov't doesn't like, or if you have a spouse that wants to get rid of you , or if a cop gets ticked at you for some reason, or if you have EVER made an enemy of ANYONE who can find and pay a hacker to do this to you.

This is EXACTLY why we have to be impeccable about knowing where the evidence originated, and the chain of custody, and how it got to where it was discovered.

I'll tell you..he sounds guilty..but if he can't get a new trial and be tried on real facts after all the lying and the reliance on questionable rvidence, then there is just one more nail in the coffin of US Justice. And it sometimes seems as if it is all but buried and rotting as it is.
