Microsoft fixes troubled IE patch

Think what this implies about Microsoft's software development tools.

Do they not use the same tools (compilers, etc.) that they sell to others? Visual Studio, for instance? If these tools don’t contain proper memory management (including buffer overrun checks) built-in, then that speaks badly for them. If they do, why are the programs failing to manage memory correctly? Does the memory management not work? Are they not being used properly? Does it not provide warnings when unchecked buffers are used?

Should we dump Visual Studio and all other Microsoft development tools, and look at other development packages from competitors?

I wonder if Mac OS X’s XCode (which comes free with every Mac OS X system, both client and server) has similar problems?
