Besides, how in blazes do you know he was too stupid to realize what he was doing? He obviously had forethought of malice when he hatched and executed his scheme to bombard is former employer with mountains of spam. He pays no restitution for the damage that he did, he doesn't even have to publicly apologize. All because...why?

Why do they even bother with the pretense of a trial and prosecution if there's going to be no teeth to the punishment that's meted out?

I suppose if he'd brought down a hospital or two at the same time all he'd get an additional scolding on top of the curfew.
